Most of my pieces are works on paper and employ a combination of drawing, painting, pen and ink or collage. The work is often categorized as abstract, although I do not assign that label to it myself. I am a nonrepresentational artist. I learned a long time to let the work reveal itself. Should a figure, bird, or anything recognizable emerge, I go with it. I pause after a substantial amount of information has been revealed, then I go back into the work and make conscious choices. Those choices begin to guide the painting or drawing. The process then becomes a back and forth. The work in front of me manifesting itself both intuitively and deliberately.
